Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients with butter and eggs at room temperature.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Beat softened butter in a large mixing bowl until smooth, then gradually add granulated and brown sugars, beating until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
  5. Slowly incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  9. Cool cookies slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a richer flavor, try dark chocolate chips or add chopped nuts. These cookies can also be served as ice cream sandwiches.
