Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, finely diced
- 8 slices thick-cut bread (Brioche, Challah, Texas Toast, or Pullman Loaf)
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk (whole milk or half-and-half)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Butter, for cooking
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
- Maple syrup, for drizzling (optional)
- Sliced fresh strawberries, for garnish (optional)
- Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
- Chocolate syrup, for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the cream cheese filling by mixing the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in the finely diced strawberries.
- Assemble the stuffed French toast by spreading half of the cream cheese filling on four slices of thick-cut bread and topping with another slice to create a sandwich.
- Whisk the eggs, milk, heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a shallow dish. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add butter, dip each sandwich in the custard mixture for about 15-20 seconds per side, and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
Notes
Serve warm for the best experience, and feel free to experiment with toppings like whipped cream or chocolate syrup.
