Ingredients
Scale
- 4-6 Korean green plums
- 2 cups green tea or black tea
- 2 cups water
- Sugar or honey to taste
- Ice cubes as needed
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by preparing your green or black tea. Boil water and pour it over the tea leaves or teabags in a heat-proof pitcher. Allow the tea to steep according to package instructions, usually around 3 to 5 minutes. After steeping, let it cool to room temperature.
- While the tea cools, take 4 to 6 Korean green plums (maesil) and rinse them thoroughly. Cut each plum in half and remove the pit. Place the halved plums in a separate container and sprinkle sugar or honey over them. Use a muddler or fork to gently smash the plums, releasing their juices and creating a syrup-like mixture.
- Once the tea has cooled, combine the muddled plums with the tea in the pitcher. You can strain the mixture if you prefer a smoother drink without fruit lumps. Adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar or honey if necessary, tasting as you go.
- Fill tall glasses with ice cubes, then pour the plum tea mixture over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired. Serve chilled and enjoy!
Notes
For a healthier option, use agave syrup instead of sugar or honey. Adjust sweetness to taste.
