Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 4 ounces Dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • a pinch Salt
  • Whipped cream (optional) for topping

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the whole milk, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Once the mixture starts to warm, add the cocoa powder, whisking to avoid lumps. Add the chopped dark chocolate as the milk continues to heat.
  3. When the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth, stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Off the heat, let it cool slightly, then pour into mugs. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa if desired.

Notes
