Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup butter (softened)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup sour cream
- 3 cups flour
- 4 oz. cream cheese
- 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until combined. Blend in sour cream.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough or scoop out balls for cookies and place on lined baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until edges are barely golden.
- For the frosting, beat together softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Frost each cooled cookie generously.
Notes
Chilling the dough is crucial to maintaining the cookie shape while baking. Allow cookies to cool completely before frosting to avoid melting.
