- 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup water or milk
- 2 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the chopped nuts and shredded coconut evenly on the bottom of the prepared dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water or milk, and eggs. Beat until smooth and pour over the nuts and coconut.
- In another bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until creamy.
- Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter, spreading it gently but do not mix.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
