  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate mint candy, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 teaspoon mint extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate mint candy and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
  7. Bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  8. Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Do not overbake. For a more robust mint flavor, replace half of the chocolate chips with peppermint chips or add crushed candy canes.
