Delightful pastries combining flaky puff pastry with a rich cream cheese filling, topped with fruit for a perfect treat.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package puff pastry sheets
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Your favorite pie filling or fresh fruit to taste
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional) to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut them into squares.
  3. Combine the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  5. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a pocket, pinching the seams to seal.
  6. Brush the tops of the danishes with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  9. Top with pie filling or fresh fruit, and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Use fresh fruit for better flavor. You can substitute ricotta for a lighter filling.
