A delightful blend of spices, tea, and cream creating the perfect holiday drink. Warm up your winter evenings with this easy-to-make, flavorful recipe.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 cups Milk (or plant-based alternative)
  • 1 tbsp Black tea leaves (or 2 bags)
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp Ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Ground cardamom
  • 1/8 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • A pinch Ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1/4 tsp Reserved spice mix

Instructions

  1. Prepare spices: Combine cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, and black pepper in a bowl, reserving 1/4 tsp for later.
  2. In a saucepan, mix water, tea leaves/bags, brown sugar, and the remaining spice mix. Heat over medium until simmering.
  3. Reduce heat to low, stir in the milk, and steep chai for about 5 minutes.
  4. Strain chai into mugs to remove tea leaves. In a bowl, whisk heavy cream, honey, and reserved spice mix until soft peaks form.
  5. Spoon or pipe the spiced whipped cream over the chai latte, and sprinkle with extra cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, swap milk with a plant-based alternative like almond or oat milk. You can also use coconut cream instead of whipped cream.
