Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons loose black tea or 2 tea bags
- 1 cup sugar (or sweetener of choice)
- 2-3 cinnamon sticks
- 5-6 cardamom pods
- 1-2 cloves
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger (sliced)
- 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
- Milk of choice (oat milk, almond milk, etc.)
Instructions
- Begin by bringing 2 cups of water to a boil in your medium saucepan.
- Once the water is boiling, add the loose black tea or the tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for about 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes, remove the tea bags or strain out the loose tea. Next, add the sugar or sweetener to the liquid while stirring until dissolved.
- Then, toss in the cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, sliced ginger, and black peppercorns. Let it all simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes.
- When all the spices have infused into the liquid, you can strain the syrup into a jar. Allow it to cool before sealing it up and placing it in the refrigerator.
Notes
Add milk or water to taste. Store in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
